Advertising Law: Don’t imply affiliation with Sporting Event

Companies beware! We are all in the midst of that wonderful time of year when people are excited to watch the Olympics, March Madness, and the Super Bowl. Each of these sporting events have highly protected trademarks. If you use their name in connection with your product in an ad, and you don’t have their permission to do so, you may be infringing upon their trademark. And the NFL, NBA, and Olympic Committee do monitor and enforce their trademarks. Don’t imply an affiliation or association or endorsement of these groups when there is none. Enjoy the games!
